Things are always happening at the Adams Community Theatre. Sometimes it is little but important, like a toilet being repaired or unnoticeable like a grant being applied for and received or not received. The changes that have happened over the last year are big, important, and very noticeable.
Fourteen years ago, when A.C.T. purchased the Adams Theater, fund raising was started to replace the movie screen. The need for repairs to the buildings exterior, the HVAC, and the roof, became more vital than a new screen. That $500 donation sat in a fund and waited to be used. The concession area was remodeled because during COVID we were closed and had people willing to do the work. A new projector was purchased when the old one went down and couldn’t be repaired. We raised money for a new popcorn popper because the old one was more costly to repair than it was worth. Still that initial $500 in the screen fund waited to be used.
Finally in 2025, the $500 was added to many other generous donations, and made it possible to install a new retractable screen. The final cost to purchase the screen, prepare the building, and hire riggers to do the installation was in excess of $30,000.
