I am delighted to be a founding member of ACT and have served on the Board as Secretary, President and Vice-President. It was a good thing I retired from Adams-Friendship Area Schools in 2012 so I’d have time for a new venture!
The Arts have been my life’s passion! My first stage appearance was at age 3 as a tap-dancing “French Doll”. The study of ballet and tap consumed my growing up years along with the piano, choral singing, folk instruments and various plays. Music became my college major, with a focus on piano performance, theory and composition. Immediately after college, I pursued a M.Ed in Elementary Education for job security. I’ve been a private piano/ vocal/ theory teacher as well as public school music educator and Gifted/Talented program Administrator.
Locally, through Sand County Players, I’ve had the opportunity to have many interesting roles (Miss Hannigan and Reverend Mother are two favorites) on stage as well as to be musical director for a host of musicals including Music Man, Into the Woods, Meet Me In St. Louis, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, My Fair Lady, Lucky Stiff, Forever Plaid, Plaid Tidings, Nonsense I and II, and our own Just Music and Time Capsule ’77.
It has been an honor and privilege as well as great fun to be on the Directoral Team for ACT along with Kris Bougie, Paula Wallendal and Heidi Schultz. We’ve produced an annual 1940’s style Christmas Radio Show every year that involves community members of all ages. We host Spring and Fall sessions of Community Chorus and have presented musicals as well: Aristocats, Cinderella, Cheeseheads the Musical, Church Basement Ladies, Church Basement Ladies-The Second Helping and Church Basement Ladies - A Might Fortress is Our Basement.
What a pleasure it has been to see Adams Community Theatre change and grow over the years! I sure hope I can hang around long enough to be part of a few more!
